Identify

Initial project included analysis of project managers performance on ongoing and past projects. Assess the overall project management process from end to end from inception through closeout. Development of a gated process, complexity model, and review project management playbook. Additionally, Project Manage the relocation of the fuel channels back (west) to their original position. By doing so, the project aimed to optimize reactor performance and ensure safe operation.

Developed a defined project management process following PMP principles
Developed critical path methodology gated process reviews
Trained and coached employees on development of work breakdown structures in P6
Developed Complexity model and associated templates 
Developed long-term schedules for all in process projects

Develop implementation plan to not only address process gaps but also close cost and scope gap on $55M ongoing project

Trained Project Managers with certified trainer on PMP project fundamentals
Implemented defined critical path methodology and gated process reviews
Implemented complexity model with associated P6 templates 
Implemented key project metrics for KPI, SPI and EV for project mangers
Eliminated allowed cost variances for vendors without executive approval 
Developed detailed project management process for project management projects 

Bottom line results = $5.6 Million recovery effort on single project scope

$20 Million additional capital spend based on new project management process
Projects completed within 3% of projected cost
Changes in contract strategy to include vendor required detailed cost breakdown structures, required monthly updates with full life-cycle project projections
